Superior Assists Franciscan Health Crown Point Hospital Move

Superior of Indiana and Superior of Illinois crews and dispatch teams assisted in the Franciscan Health Crown Point Hospital move in Crown Point, Indiana, on Sunday, January 28, and transported over 100 patients in just four and a half hours!

Franciscan Health Crown Point is part of Franciscan Alliance – a Catholic healthcare system that operates eleven hospitals in Indiana and one hospital in Illinois. Almost four years ago, construction began for a new facility for their Crown Point location – as the current facility is 50 years old. The new facility was recently completed, and was ready to receive patients starting at 6 am on Sunday, January 28, when the old facility would close to all incoming patients.

Throughout most of the day, Superior Ambulance of Indiana crews, Medi-Car drivers and dispatch teams, with help from Superior of Illinois crews and dispatch teams, transported more than 100 patients from the old facility to the new one – most of them in just over four and a half hours. An ambulance was also stationed at the closed ER to transport walk-in patients emergently to the new campus if needed.

We are very proud of our Indiana and Illinois crews, Medi-Car drivers, dispatch and our risk team for their dedication and keeping patients safe during this historic and successful hospital move!
