Basic Life Support
Basic Life Support ambulances are staffed with Emergency Medical Technician (EMT’s). EMT’s perform a patient assessment and basic noninvasive interventions during the course of a transport. Examples of BLS equipment include:
Advanced Life Support
Advanced Life Support ambulances are staffed with two Paramedics or an EMT and a Paramedic. ALS ambulances respond to emergency and non-emergency requests for transport. Paramedics have a scope of practice which includes:
Expanded Scope Advanced Life Support
Expanded Scope Advanced Life Support ambulances are staffed with a Paramedic and a Paramedic who has obtained additional education allowing them to transport higher acuity patients. Additional equipment includes:
Critical Care Services
The Critical Care Transport Team is staffed by Critical Care Paramedics and Critical Care Transport Nurses. Critical Care Paramedics have at least 2 years ALS experience and have completed a university-accredited critical care training program (CCEMTP, CCP). Transport Nurses have at least 2 years of critical care ICU or ER experience. All staff remain current in standards of care are certified in ACLS, PALS, NRP, and Trauma.

Special Response Team
Beginning in 2005 when Superior responded with 15 ambulances and 50 personnel to a request for assistance from Louisana after Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, Superior Ambulance has had an expanding role locally and nationally in disaster response. As a FEMA contractor, Superior has deployed ambulances, personnel and supplies to national disaster events.
Special Events Division
The Special Events Division provides EMS services to a variety of professional, collegiate and community events throughout the year. From small events such as a community parade to large scale events like the Chicago Marathon, Superior provides personnel, vehicles and administrative support to the event planners.
Advanced Dispatch Center
Superior owns and operates four (4) state of the art Dispatch Centers, staffed by dispatch and customer service professionals. All Superior Ambulances are dispatched by the Communication Center in the state they deploy. Superior has invested in technology to meet the needs of our partners to assure safety for patients and efficiencies in operations. Superior’s scheduling and dispatch software provides fleet management, monitoring, intelligent vehicle routing, transport scheduling and mobile communications for real time data collection. The software provides Superior call takers and dispatchers with the proper tools to accurately collect and disseminate patient information to deliver better outcomes.
