Superior Ambulance Service Opens New Milwaukee Station and Training Center

The James Lovell Milwaukee Station will provide a variety of EMS training programs to address the growing workforce crisis in emergency medical services.

Superior Ambulance President and CEO Dave Hill III joins company leadership, staff and community partners for a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the grand opening of the new station.

Milwaukee, WI – Superior Air-Ground Ambulance Service, a trusted leader in emergency medical services throughout the Midwest, is proud to announce the opening of its James Lovell Milwaukee Station and Life Support Training Institute (LSTI) Classroom in Milwaukee County.

Emergency medical services (EMS) training began in January, and the first class of EMTs graduated last week. Once they complete the required state testing and certification, these 10 graduates have the opportunity to work at Superior Ambulance, which exemplifies how the company is providing lifelong career opportunities while helping solve the local workforce gap in emergency services.

“Superior Ambulance has more than two decades of experience training EMS workers, and we’re proud to step up and offer new opportunities for EMS providers of all license levels,” said Joe Posey, General Manager of Superior Ambulance-Wisconsin. “The James Lovell Milwaukee Station will expand the region’s skilled workforce and ensure high-quality care across southeast Wisconsin.”

Milwaukee EMT class graduation

EMT graduates celebrate the successful completion of their training through LSTI.

This opening comes a week ahead of National EMS Week, celebrated May 18-24, which recognize dedicated EMS professionals for their life-saving services.

The launch of the new training station comes at a pivotal moment for both the region and the state. According to the Wisconsin Office of Rural Health, 41% of EMS agencies have experienced staffing gaps significant enough to prevent them from responding to ambulance calls at times. To help meet this growing demand, Superior Ambulance is actively recruiting for more than 50 paramedic and 75 EMT positions—roles that are vital to strengthening emergency medical response capacity throughout the Milwaukee area.

“We congratulate Superior on the grand opening of their new James Lovell EMS Station and welcome them downtown,” said Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce (MMAC) President Dale Kooyenga. “With a shortage of health care workers, Superior’s expansion is good news for Milwaukee residents. Not only will they train the next generation of EMS professionals, but they will also improve response times and save lives.”

Key features of the EMS training station include:

  • Multiple levels of training offered, including EMS Driver, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), and Paramedic
  • Flexible scheduling with classes offered as day-, evening-, or weekend-only courses based on community need

Superior is proud to collaborate with major healthcare institutions across the Greater Milwaukee Region to offer life-changing training and career pathways. For more than 20 years, Superior Ambulance has trained EMS workers to care for those living and working in our communities, and the opening of this Milwaukee Station represents Superior’s continued commitment to the health and safety of the Milwaukee community.

Interested participants can apply for a class on Superior’s website. All applicants are invited to an information session where they receive more details about LSTI courses.
