Superior Ambulance Employees Honored at Wisconsin Stars of Life

MADISON, WI — Superior Air-Ground Ambulance Service of Wisconsin, Inc. celebrated three of its team members as they were recognized during the Stars of Life ceremony in Madison this week. Hosted by the Professional Ambulance Association of Wisconsin (PAAW), the event celebrated 20 exceptional EMS professionals from across the state who have demonstrated dedication to their communities, as well as outstanding service and skill.

“Our honorees represent the highest standards of emergency medical service, and we are proud to have such dedicated Superior Ambulance professionals serving Wisconsin,” said Kim Godden, Vice President of Superior Ambulance. “The Stars of Life program reminds us that behind every recognition are EMS teams across Wisconsin working tirelessly to keep communities safe.”

The Superior Ambulance employees honored at this year’s ceremony include:

Derek Hernandez, EMT (Superior’s Oak Creek Station)
Derek Hernandez began his career at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and has shown dedication to patient care from the beginning. Over the years, he has worked across Illinois and Wisconsin, earning respect for his skill, compassion, and commitment, including training over 100 new EMTs as a Field Training Officer. Derek is a top performer, and he continues to serve his community with professionalism and passion, making a lasting impact on both patients and colleagues.

Don Iggulden, AEMT (Superior’s Madison Station)
Don Iggulden brings 33 years of experience in EMS, including 911 response, inter-facility transport, and critical care transport, with additional licensure in Canada. He’s been with Superior Ambulance since January 2024. Known for his professionalism, strong character, and willingness to support colleagues when and where needed, he continually seeks opportunities to expand his skills and improve.

Emma Klein, EMT (Superior’s Janesville Station)
Emma Klein began her career in 2023 and quickly advanced to become a Field Training Officer. She is applying to Physician Assistant school with a focus on emergency medicine and trauma. Emma is recognized for her compassion, professionalism, and dedication to training new EMTs. She consistently goes above and beyond to ensure excellent patient care.

“Every day, our team members bring both professionalism and heart to the job, and that is what truly defines Superior Ambulance in Wisconsin,” said Joe Posey, General Manager of Superior Ambulance of Wisconsin. “These honorees stand out for their dedication, skill, and compassion, and we are proud to have them be the face of Superior Ambulance today.”
