Lansing, MI — Superior Air-Ground Ambulance Service of Michigan, Inc. celebrated six of its outstanding team members as they were recognized during the Stars of Life ceremony at the Michigan State Capitol. Hosted by the Michigan Association of Ambulance Services, the event celebrated 67 exceptional EMS professionals from across the state who have demonstrated extraordinary dedication to their communities, as well as outstanding service and skill.
“These honorees embody the very best of emergency medical service, and we couldn’t be prouder of our Superior Ambulance team members who have earned this recognition,” said Kim Godden, Vice President of Superior Ambulance. “While we celebrate their individual contributions to our communities, the Stars of Life program is a reminder of the vital, lifesaving work all EMS teams do across Michigan, day in and day out.”
The Superior Ambulance employees honored at this year’s ceremony include:
Tim Adams, AEMT (Superior’s Taylor Station)
Tim Adams is being honored for his exceptional patient care and his passion for training new EMS personnel. As a field training officer, Tim regularly trains new personnel, which is where his positive attitude and leadership skills shine.
Geoff Aughe, Paramedic (Superior’s Allen Park Station)
Geoff Aughe has dedicated 27 years to EMS, bringing his critical care expertise to Superior Ambulance in 2016. A committed educator and mentor, he has taught for Superior and served as adjunct faculty at Oakland Community College, shaping the next generation of EMS professionals. Throughout his career, Geoff has impacted hundreds of patients and colleagues with his clinical skill, leadership, and compassion.
Angela Hicks, Paramedic (Superior’s Northville and Southfield Stations)
Angela Hicks is being recognized for her unparalleled patient care. She is known for providing a safe, caring experience for every patient she encounters, and she is passionate about advancing the paramedic profession. Alongside her ambulance work, she teaches labs at Life Support Training Institute to guide paramedic students.
Justin McCain, Paramedic (Superior’s Detroit Station)
Justin McCain has dedicated most of his EMS career to Superior’s Detroit Rescue 911 team, first as an EMT and now as a Paramedic. He is always eager to learn and share his expertise, and trains future EMS professionals while delivering outstanding patient care. He has received multiple Clinical Excellence and Customer Service Awards from Superior, as well as recognition from Detroit hospitals, honoring his passion, positivity, and embodiment of Superior Ambulance’s highest values.
Samantha Ortwine, EMT (Superior’s Troy Station)
Samantha Ortwine is being recognized for her outstanding patient care. Samantha was inspired to become an EMT by a co-worker during the COVID-19 pandemic. She has a true passion for helping patients and thoroughly enjoys caring for people, which shows in her role as an EMT.
Arielle Williams, EMT (Superior’s Warren Station)
Arielle Williams is being recognized for her exceptional service, building on several commendations previously received for her exceptional care and compassion for her patients. Arielle’s life experience led her into a career in EMS, and she has built lasting friendships in the EMS community at Superior.
“Our team members are more than first responders, they are trusted members of the communities they serve,” said Dustin Hawley, General Manager of Superior Ambulance of Michigan. “Our honorees have consistently demonstrated excellence, professionalism, and a deep commitment to patient care. We are proud to have them represent Superior Ambulance.”
The Michigan Association of Ambulance Services Stars of Life program celebrates the contributions of ambulance professionals who go above and beyond the call of duty in service to their communities or the EMS profession. Stars of Life honors the contributions of these heroes while shining light on the critical role EMS plays in our healthcare infrastructure.
